For centuries crowns have been a favorite motif in our stitching arsenal. They have been used to symbolize royalty, aristocracy and different generations in family trees. They also have a religious implication in Christianity as a symbol for Christ. And last but not least, they have been used as plain old space fillers. What better way to fill in a little gap when your alphabet just doesn’t take up a full line across your linen. Crowning Glory is a celebration of our stitching love of diadems. The main piece of this class is a pin cushion that is finished into a tin crown base. The pincushion is stitched on 32ct Chocolate Milk linen from Fabrics by Stephanie with silk floss from Classic Colorworks. Of course, a crown needs to be stitched in luxurious silk!! To protect your crown, you need a special box. And that is another part of this fun class. We will cover a box, both exterior and interior with papers from Monahan Papers and then line the bottom with a cushion of velveteen from Lady Dot Creates. The perfect resting spot for your crown. The class rounds out with a few other projects, a perforated paper needle card, a stitched floss keeper, and a bezel fob. I can’t wait to see you at the Shepherd’s Needle and share these class pieces with you!
